The death has occurred of Denis Cullinane (Mullingar and formerly of Mountrath) retired Garda Superintendent. 13th November 2025, at home surrounded by his family.

Dearly beloved and loving husband of 64 years of Ita (O’Neill). Much loved Dad of Denise, Shelley, Kitty, Garry, Pearse, Barbara and Shane. Adored Grandad and storyteller to his grandchildren Rebecca, Aaron, Abbey, Kate, Chris, Daniel, Tom, Shane, Etain and Aoibheann, and great grandchildren Scarlett, Farah, Safiya, Itotia and Connor. Sadly missed by his sister Rita O’Donovan (Mallow), daughter-in-law and sons-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law, his many nieces, nephews and extended family, and his many good friends, neighbours and former colleagues at An Garda Síochana.

Predeceased by his sister Mary Ramsbottom and brothers Michael and John.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis

Reposing at Gilsenan’s Funeral Home Mullingar (N91 K660) on Friday 14th November from 4 pm to 6 pm followed by Removal to the Cathedral of Christ the King arriving at 6.30 pm.  Denis’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 15th November at 11 am and the Mass may be viewed on the link below. Burial afterwards in Ballyglass Cemetery.
